When teeth are knocked out due to trauma, it is important to seek help from you dentist as soon as possible. When teeth are displaced from their sockets, the nerve can be severed. If replaced quickly and stabilized, the tooth can revitalize and heal itself. Even if replaced quickly, the tooth may require root canal therapy in the future.
X-rays should be taken to evaluate the bone and adjacent teeth for possible fractures. If bone is lost during trauma, it may be necessary for bone grafting and alternative replacement of missing teeth with implants, bridge or some type of removable prosthesis.
