Most people do not have enough room in their mouth to accommodate wisdom teeth. In most cases, the teeth grow in partially or remain impacted in the bone. Because of the lack of adequate room, wisdom teeth can cause extreme pain while erupting or can cause teeth to shift and crowd. If teeth don’t come in straight, they are difficult to clean and can jeopardize the tooth next to it. There are several signs and symptoms to indicate that your wisdom teeth need to be extracted. If you have pain, swelling, difficulty opening your mouth or a fowl order, referred to as halitosis, you may need your wisdom teeth removed. It is a good idea to remove wisdom teeth preventively, before they create problems. Delaying the extraction of wisdom teeth can lead to increased chances for complications. It is less likely to have complications, if wisdom teeth are removed between the ages of 14 and 18 years.
